Grandma's Cranberry Marmalade Quilt Pattern

I decided to host a mystery quilt to celebrate 2 years of our Facebook group, iTec Quilting. This mystery quilt was designed with the beginner quilter in mind. The units used in this quilt are some of the most basic units used to make a block.

The thought of a mystery quilt drew quilters from all over; as many as 60+ new members joined the group.

UPDATE: you can now make a quilt of your own. Scroll to the bottom of this blog post to learn how to purchase a copy of the lap-size or the queen-size quilt pattern.

Now that the mystery is over, I can share it with you.

In one of our conversations about testing the pattern, my friend Bev mentioned how her selected orange fabrics reminded her of her grandmother. Her fabrics remind me of orange sherbet, the kind I used to eat out of the cardboard push-up pops when I was a kid. Somewhere along the way, we added a cranberry red to Bev's fabrics to make her quilt top pop up and have a 3D appearance. This led to the creation of Grandma's Cranberry Marmalade quilt, which used cranberry and orange fabrics for her quilt.

The mystery quilt files included an Introduction, Fabric Requirements, and 6 weekly clues.

I made my mystery quilt using fabrics my friend would like. Her favorite color is purple, and she loves horses. I used a soft, light tan to compliment the two purple fabrics and a cream fabric as my background.

Seeing everyone's different fabric selections and pieced units was so much fun as the weeks passed.

The edge-to-edge longarm design I did on the quilt was called Horse 2 E2E by Dani Fisk Designs.

Now that the mystery quilt is over, I have made the Grandma's Cranberry Marmalade (Lap Size) quilt pattern available as a Digital Downloadable pattern for you to purchase. The completed quilt top measures approximately 66" x 81". Click here to buy the pattern on a secure website.
