Six-Pointed Crocheted Spool Doily for Vintage Sewing Machines

I have always wanted one of the 'old' sewing machines; the beautiful wood cabinets always appealed to me. My grandmother has one, and I watched my mom claim it as hers once my grandmother was ready to pass it on. (My mom found a sheet of paper, wrote her name on it, and stuffed it inside the cabinet.) Knowing I would not be getting my grandmother's machine, I have always looked for an old machine for myself.

Crocheted Star Baby Blanket

I had been itching to crochet, but I couldn't without having someone or something to crochet for.  My nephew was born in May of this year so I decided he could use a blanket.  His dad is a Dallas Cowboys fan so I was looking for something with a star that I could incorporate into a blanket. 

I came across this free pattern on this web site through Pinterest. Thanks so much for having it available to me.

I ran through some difficulties with the pattern so when I redo the blanket I will post some changes I made, later. So for now, I'll just include pictures in this blog.

I used three colors: Navy Blue, Silver Grey, & White with a size 6.5mm hook.

It was during these first few rows that I noticed there was a warp/bubble in the center (I pressed them out for the photo) so in the other rows there after, I removed one stitch from the group of 3s...

Here, I decided I didn't want to end the blanket with a grey, and decided to use a strip of blue.

I forgot to take a measurement of the final width before I mailed it to my nephew but if I had a guess I would say it is 4 to 4.5 ft across.

In this picture, one can kinda see the warp/bubble in the center most part of the star, I was talking about previously.
